WATCH: Haley Fumbles the EASIEST Question – Shows How Dumb She is Really

On Wednesday, presidential candidate Nikki Haley spoke to voters at a town hall. During which, one person asked her what the cause of the civil war was, and her response leads you to believe that she doesn’t actually know the main driving factor of the war.

“What was the cause of the United States Civil War?” a man in the crowd asked.

Haley answered, “The cause of the Civil War was basically how government was going to run. The freedoms and what people could and couldn’t do.”

“I think it always comes down to the role of government and what the rights of the people are,” she continued. “And I will always stand by the fact that I think government was intended to secure the rights and freedoms of the people. It was never meant to be all things to all people. Government doesn’t need to tell you how to live your life. They don’t need to tell you what you can and can’t do. They don’t need to be a part of your life.”

To which the voter replied, “It’s astonishing to me that you answer that question without mentioning the word ‘slavery.'”

Haley shot back, “What do you want me to say about slavery?”

The man said, “You’ve answered my question, thank you.”

  • What was dumb was the man who asked the question. I think slavery was abolished in America with adoption of 13th amendment in 1863. That was 160 years ago. There are those, like this guy, who will keep rubbing salt in that wound as long this world exists. What was is history. Let’s move on. 160 years is a very long time to use something that far back as an excuse as many today do.

  • I thought slavery was the main issue in the Civil War, but I was told that was wrong. The reason for the Civil War was to preserve the Union. That doesn’t make much sense, but the Midwestern states were fearful that they would be cut off and isolated from the rest of the country.

    • Timothy: (enslaved ALL) You have MY VOTE for best possible answer, (effective 8 score and 1 years earlier come Monday) when “Executive branch of Federal Government” took control from People (the States) and SCOTUS and made Executive Branch KING (Executive-Ordered many, but not all, 88% that were in “the states in rebellion only” [about 3.5 million of the 4 million slaves in the US, WHY NOT ALL?] were the issue used to get MORE CONTROL from the other branches).

  • I agree more with Haley (cause was Federal Gov’t telling people what their rights are, [which includes slaves (citizens), settlers, and new States] instead of our Constitution; and also what they aren’t – slave owners).

  • I think Haley got it right, sort of. Actually she should have simply said that an answer to that question would take an entire college semester. The founding fathers caused the civil war, when they invented the time honored tradition of kick the can down the road. Congress caused the civil war with their incompetence in the years leading up to secession. I could go on and on with causes and explaining how and why but the fact is, while slavery was an issue, the causes are many.

  • She is a rino not a GOP a Rino she is two faced backstabbing and we seen this many times, then she to cozy with soros, so please wake up we can’t afford to make a mistake or allow cheating by democrats, if caught they forfeit all that includes senate, congress, presidency everything and the states that allow cheating and better believe they know their votes canceled we must force legal voting no more of this garbage then nothing done like the illegal administration we have know should have been removed immediately

  • Her answer was correct. The democrats of the south wanted to keep their slaves. So they seceded from the union. It really was about states rights and the democrats not wanting to give up their slaves. Remember it was the democrats of the south who loved slavery. Do you see how the democrats will use this against the Republican Party and the republicans will use this against her. Win win for some. And no , I’m not a fan of her.
