Tucker Carlson Smacked with Cease-and-Desist Letter by Fox News

According to reports, Tucker Carlson was smacked with a cease-and-desist letter by his former employer Fox News after his new Twitter show went public last week.

Despite FNC abruptly dumping Carlson in April, he is still under contract through the end of next year, as Axios reports.  The news channel never even offered a real explanation as to why they axed their top-watched anchor.

After losing his job, Carlson announced the launch of his own show on Twitter, which debuted last week – drawing a combined 169 million views for just two episodes.

However, Carlson and his legal lineup aren’t backing down! Harmeet Dhillon, an attorney representing Carlson, posted on Twitter, “My friend and client Tucker Carlson will not be silenced — by the far left or by Fox News.”

Dhillon declared, “For all the members of Congress, culture warriors, ‘influencers, GOP officials — do you really want to air your views on a network that spits on its viewers, leaks [opposition] on its own talent, and even threatens former talent for speaking, for free, on Twitter?! You have free will!”

Sounds like Fox is a little more than worried about their dirty laundry being aired.

Daily Mail reports:

FOX continued to pay Carlson, and maintains a contract that stipulates he must keep content exclusive to the network through December 31, 2024.

The network sent an official correspondence to Carlson’s legal team last week claiming the newscaster was ‘in breach’ of his contract and threatened to sue.

The network has now escalated that threat, Axios reports, by sending a cease-and-desist letter.

Carlson’s lawyers, though, argued any legal action by FOX would be a direct violation of their client’s First Amendment rights, as the newscaster is said to be looking for a way out of a $20million-a-year contract with the company.

“FOX News continues to ignore the interests of its viewers, not to mention its shareholder obligations,” Dhillon told Axios. “Doubling down on the most catastrophic programming decision in the history of the cable news industry, FOX is now demanding that Tucker Carlson be silent until after the 2024 election.”

She argued, “Tucker will not be silenced by anyone… He is a singularly important voice on matters of public interest in our country, and will remain so.”

Dhillon also addressed why she doesn’t appear on Fox anymore. She explained, “I am passionately committed to free speech and a free flow of information necessary for a free society.”

“Until FOX stops trying to silence Tucker, it’s not a place for me. And I feel for my friends working at the network, which has clearly caved into pressure from some quarter to silence,” Carlson’s attorney added. “What you are seeing on FOX today is a censored version of the news.”

Here are Carlson’s first two episodes of his new show, “Tucker on Twitter.”
