Subway is known for by their “$5 foot-longs” and famous slogan to “Eat fresh!” However, a Subway in Savannah, Georgia is in being recognized for more than Italian cheesy bread and fresh deli meat.
The restaurant location updated their sign with what appears to be an insensitive message poking fun at the OceanGate Titan submarine that imploded last month, killing five people who were on their way to view the Titanic wreckage at the bottom of the ocean.
According to WTOC in Savannah, the sign read “Our subs don’t implode.”

Is that just a tacky message, or a genius play? Either way, Subway corporate is not happy.
“We have been in contact with the franchise about this matter and made it clear that this kind of comment has no place in our business,” a statement from Subway said. “The sign has since been removed.”
Twitter users immediately picked sides and started throwing their opinions into the ring.
“This is tacky to say the least. In Rincon, GA. Be better Subway,” one user tweeted.
“This is what we are doing now? Making fun of people who lost their lives,” another wrote.
One person even called to sue the restaurant for their pun, “Disrespectful, I think we should sue subway for mocking the deaths of them people.”
Another person took the situation even further, comparing the submarine implosion to 9/11 and mass shootings. He wrote, “Rincon GA Subway sign “our subs don’t implode”. Maybe next Subway will be making fun of mass shooting victims or 9/11 victims?”

While others joined in on the pun and responded with some of their own. As Richard Ocho tweeted, “…yeah they gotta do better. That joke was dead in the water. Not sure why that Subway location would sink so low.”
Another joked, “(me at subway) yeah i’ll have a sub hold the billlionaire.”
Someone else called for the sign to be put back up because they found it funny. The user wrote, “Should put the sign back, I laughed.”

Anyone that complains about that subway sign is a KAREN . That sub that imploded was a piss poor design and piss poor construction. Any grief that they receive they earned. What were the passengers told that gave them the confidence to risk their lives.

a matter of humor, things have definitely gone too far. Think of those that lost one of these five people, one just starting out in life; it is time to be aware of others feelings. It is called “empathy”
