According to reports, Special Counsel Jack Smith declared that the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) will seek a “speedy trial” in their bogus case against former President Donald Trump, on charges related to the January 6 protests.
Trump was indicted on Tuesday on four accounts, which include conspiracy to defraud the U.S., conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights.
Smith claims the Capitol protests were “an unprecedented assault on the seat of American democracy,” and argued that it was “fueled by lies” during a press conference. “Lies by the defendant targeted at obstructing a bedrock function of the U.S. government, a nation’s process of collecting, counting and certifying the results of the presidential election.”

He also praised the law enforcement who “defended the U.S. Capitol” as “heroes.”
“They’re patriots and they’re the very best of us. They did not just defend a building or the people sheltering in it. They put their lives on the line to defend who we are as a country and as a people. They defended the very institutions and principles that define the United States,” Smith said.
Smith said the four-count indictment against Trump is consistent with the DOJ’s commitment to ensure “accountability for those criminally responsible for what happened that day.”
He noted that he is seeking a “speedy trial” to ensure the DOJ’s “evidence can be tested in court and judged by a jury of citizen.”
Interestingly enough, the charges that they are pressing in this “speedy trial” include a potential death penalty. DEATH PENALTY!

18 U.S.C § 241, “Conspiracy Against Rights,” includes a penalty of up to 10 years in federal prison. But it adds that if death results from the actions covered under this provision, the offender may be executed:
If two or more persons conspire to injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured to him by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or because of his having so exercised the same; or
If two or more persons go in disguise on the highway, or on the premises of another, with intent to prevent or hinder his free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege so secured—
They shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and if death results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, they shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both, or may be sentenced to death.
The other charges include lengthy prison sentences:
18 U.S.C. § 371 – Conspiracy to Defraud the United States – the maximum penalty is five years in prison, though penalties can be less if the conspiracy is to commit a misdemeanor; in that case, the punishment cannot be greater than the greatest for that crime.
18 U.S.C. § 1512 (k) – Conspiracy to Obstruct an Official Proceeding – this statute, crafted originally to punish witness tampering, has a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison for anyone who “obstructs, influences, or impedes any official proceeding.”
18 U.S.C. § 1512 (c) – Obstruction of and Attempt to Obstruct an Official Proceeding – this likewise carries up to 20 years in prison.
If Trump is convicted of the bogus charges and receives the maximum non-lethal penalty, he could be facing 55 years in prison. That is in addition to the 460 years that Smith is pushing for in the “documents” case in Miami. If found guilty on all counts, Trump’s maximum federal prison term could come to 515 years.
When the does the madness end? At what point will the left give up with their lies? They could have used a fraction of this energy to investigate Hillary Clinton or Jeffrey Epstein’s list. Yet they can’t get over “orange man bad” long enough to do anything worthwhile.
That’s the sentence Smith needs.
